Keeping it REAL...

I'm Michelle Carrillo... owner & photographer of the Suitcase Studio.

I think I see things a little differently than most people. I don't find beauty in perfection. I don't go for the perfectly posed photos, or smiles that have been practiced in the mirrors.  Instead, I'm here to capture the REAL stuff... the moments that happen in-between those poses. The imperfect smiles, the nervous laughter, and even that crazy face you make when you think that no one else is watching.

To help keep it real, I shoot on-location here in Orange County, California. (No stuffy studio!) I travel to where you are... to whatever place showcases you and your style. My goal is to document real lIfe, and thus, I mainly focus on weddings & lifestyle/portrait photography.

From pics of recent clients to thoughts & images of my own life, I'm here to share this journey with you. Keepin' it real... one moment at a time.

Because this is real life. It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

Susan & Erik {wedded bliss…}

Susan and Erik were wonderful to be around. Their love and adoration for one another was completely obvious, as was their close friendship, too. One moment they’d be staring at each other lovingly, and the next moment they’d be sticking out their tongues at one another and laughing out loud. Their energy was contagious, and it totally kept me smiling.

I’ve already posted a sneak peek of their session in the park, but here are a few more favorites of mine:

After the park, it was on to the reception, held at King Harbor Seafood. WOW… all the different foods. It was a full banquet, served family-style. I was ushered to a seat by a family member, and when an auntie asks you to eat, you EAT. Here was the menu for the night:

The couple served tea to the family members who weren’t able to attend the tea ceremony earlier in the day:

And Susan’s father visited each of the tables, giving his blessings/well-wishes.

It was a beautiful celebration, and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it. (Thanks, you two…)
