Keeping it REAL...

I'm Michelle Carrillo... owner & photographer of the Suitcase Studio.

I think I see things a little differently than most people. I don't find beauty in perfection. I don't go for the perfectly posed photos, or smiles that have been practiced in the mirrors.  Instead, I'm here to capture the REAL stuff... the moments that happen in-between those poses. The imperfect smiles, the nervous laughter, and even that crazy face you make when you think that no one else is watching.

To help keep it real, I shoot on-location here in Orange County, California. (No stuffy studio!) I travel to where you are... to whatever place showcases you and your style. My goal is to document real lIfe, and thus, I mainly focus on weddings & lifestyle/portrait photography.

From pics of recent clients to thoughts & images of my own life, I'm here to share this journey with you. Keepin' it real... one moment at a time.

Because this is real life. It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. 

 


the Sanchez Family

I had a LOT of fun with this family last week. Who wouldn't? 3-year old Colin was such a character, and 11-month old Sofia could steal your heart with her grin. Luck was with us, as the sprinkles gave way to blue-ish skies and warm weather down by the beach. Not a bad way at all to spend a Friday afternoon. 

We romped around Balboa, from the pier to the playground to the funzone and the beach… we did it all. Colin was a trooper for making it through all this after skipping his afternoon nap. And even camera-shy Fausto seemed to have his share of fun, too. 

There were SO many great moments captured, that it was difficult for me to choose a few favorites to share with you all. Here are a handful of them.

May 6, 2009 - 12:49 am Ronalyn - Oh girl! I love these!!! You just inspired me.. I got that photographer itch! For a while, I threw in the towel.. but these kinds of photographs.. is why I wanted to do it in the first place.. you captured them as a family and I love it!!! I can tell with each shoot, you are growing, maybe even more comfortable behind the lens.. You've totally inspired me.. I admit, I've dodged a few calls.. but I think I may just have to return them :) Since it is nice here now.. Thanks for the extra boost.. I think that's what I needed today..
